A STORY BORN IN A BAKERY

FROM OUR BAKERY TO YOURS

After more than a decade in the bakery industry, we believed natural color could be better; more vibrant, more consistent, and made to perform in the products professionals create every day.

BEHIND ADAMA™

WHO WE ARE

ADAMA™ began with Ella and Max, the husband-and-wife team behind miFLAVOUR, an award-winning bakery in Spokane, Washington.

After more than a decade in the bakery industry, we had seen firsthand how much customers love colorful desserts—and how difficult it could be to create those same vibrant results without artificial dyes.

We wanted to offer more dye-free options at miFLAVOUR without sacrificing the bright macarons, cakes, buttercream, and desserts our customers expected.

That simple goal eventually became something much bigger: What if natural food color could be made to work better for professional baking?

THE IDEA

Solving the baking challenge led us to something even more important: natural color does not behave the same way in every application.

Water, fat, heat, and the way a product is processed can all affect the final result. Instead of asking one formula to do everything, we developed ADAMA™ around specific applications.

Today, our four collections are designed for Frostings & Drinks, Cake & Baking, Macarons, and Buttercream & Chocolate, giving professionals a more intentional starting point for the products they make.

THE PARTNERSHIP

That question led Max to his cousin, Kirill Gurdumov, PhD, a scientist with a background in research and product development.

Max asked Kirill if he would partner with us to build something we had wished existed in our own bakery: a natural food-coloring brand capable of creating the vibrant, playful foods people love, without relying on artificial dyes.

One of the first challenges was baking. Could natural pigments be formulated differently so they held up better when exposed to high heat?

Kirill began researching, testing, and developing combinations specifically around those challenges. His scientific work, combined with our experience using color in a working bakery, ultimately helped shape ADAMA™ and our application-specific approach to natural food coloring.

MADE FOR THE APPLICATION

OVER A DECADE BEHIND THE COUNTER

BUILT WITH BAKERS IN MIND

We know that professional kitchens need more than a beautiful color sample. Products need to be repeatable, practical to use, and capable of fitting into real production.

That perspective comes from more than a decade of building and operating miFLAVOUR. We understand batch production, labor, consistency, recipe development, customer expectations, and what happens when an ingredient that works perfectly in a test does not perform the same way at scale.

That experience continues to influence the products we develop and the support we provide to ADAMA™ wholesale customers.

"ADAMA™ started because we wanted something better for our own bakery. Today, we get to build that solution for other bakers and food businesses too, combining the experience of a working bakery with the science needed to push natural color further."
